Heidi may be a familiar face to some as her two children, John and Carrie, are students here at RCS. Please join us in welcoming our new 3rd grade teacher, Heidi Dobie!

Tell us a little about your educational background.

I grew up in Spokane, Washington, and graduated from Washington State University with a degree in elementary education and an endorsement in special education.  While living in Yakima, I received my Masters in Education through Heritage University.

Tell us about your family.

John, my husband, grew up in Naches.  We have two children who attend Riverside Christian School!

What attracted you to work for Riverside Christian School?

I love that Riverside Christian School is a Christian school!  The kids enjoy relating all subjects to the Bible; and current events are also related to the Bible. This helps the kids understand our world and their place in our world. I also love that the educational expectation is high for every student, that several activities are hands-on, and that students have homework and at-home projects.  The academic education here is exceptional!

What have been your experiences in education?

So far I have taught for 13 years:  One year in a 1-6th grade resource room, 3 years in 7th grade classroom teaching language arts and math, and 9 years teaching 2nd grade!

Why do you think a Christian education is important for families to consider?

I believe that a Christian education is important for families to consider because we live in a world that needs Christians and to hear the good news about God!

How do you hope to make a difference in the lives of students in your role at Riverside Christian School?

I am looking forward to helping my students understand our world, grow in their knowledge, and use what they know to enrich the lives of those around them.

What do you love most about Riverside Christian School so far?

I love that Riverside is like a family.  We care about each other and want each other to succeed in life both here on earth and in heaven.
