“Do you love God?” Thanksgiving Praise Chapel

“Do you love God?” Thanksgiving Praise Chapel

“Do you love God?” How do we know if what we say is true? We have a litmus test: In 1 John 3:17-18, it says, “If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” How do we know if we are of the truth? If our deeds match what we say. The good works that flow from our love are the way we confirm whether or not we really love God.

The call went out for us to collect food, clothing, and water for people at the mission and the community who come to the mission for help. This morning, as we gathered… and gathered from each classroom, the blessings continued to flow. You have given so much that it lines the hallway! Thank you for showing your love through giving and blessing the Union Gospel Mission so fully it will take a Box Truck to transport it. We have passed the litmus test. “There are people here who love God!”

In addition, we are aware of so much destruction caused by the hurricanes that as we were raising funds to meet our school’s budgetary needs during the Jog-A-Thon, we were prompted to decide that if we met our gross goal of 50,000, we would send anything above that to Hurricane Relief. We were able to send over $5,700 to Samaritan’s Purse! Our Love for God Flows!
