Support Lab

Support Lab

The Support Lab offers student assessment in several areas:

  • Screening

  • Academic/Achievement

  • Diagnostic

  • Progress Monitoring

  • Referrals for testing outside of Riverside when necessary

The Support Lab offers three programs to help students achieve success: Since its founding in 2003, the Support Lab at Riverside Christian School has assisted kindergarten through high school students to achieve academic success in areas of personal academic difficulty. Our program is designed to be flexible, meeting the unique needs of individual students.

Supplemental Program

Based on the assessed needs of the student, an individualized program of instruction is designed to strengthen the area of difficulty. These students receive one-on-one or small-group instruction three to five times a week and are placed back into the classroom usually within six months.

Special Education Program

This program is designed for those students whose unique needs cannot be met in a conventional classroom in all subjects. Such students will spend part of the day in the Support Lab while being mainstreamed with peers as much as possible. Instruction is individualized, incorporating both short-term and long-term goal planning to help students reach their God-given potential.

We recognize that students have different methods of learning. For both of the above-individualized programs, various learning methods are utilized, including auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Our objective is to enhance the weak areas of learning while reinforcing areas of personal strength.

Tutoring Program

For students who are struggling with their regular classroom coursework, tutoring services are available during selected periods of the day. Assistance is also available to assist students who need to improve their study skills. An additional fee applies.

Parental Involvement

Support Lab teachers partner with parents through regular communication and conferencing. Parents provide the home support and stimulation necessary for their student’s success.
